Anchorage
ANCHORAGE
The anchorage in the La Paz Outer Harbor is located in an area of a 90 degree SW semicircle from a central point at 24°12.9'N 110°18.9'W. This anchorage is for vessels over 500 tons and is west of the Punta Prieta Lighthouse. The depth ranges from 32.8-62.3 ft (10-19 m) and has a good holding quality with a sandy bottom.
There is no limit on length or size in the Outer Harbor anchorage.
The anchorage in the vicinity of the Port of Pichilingue is located at 24°14.8'N 110°21'W. It is approximately one nmi from the south point of San Juan Nepomuceno with a depth of 65.6-72.2 ft (20-22 m). The anchorage has a sandy bottom with a good holding quality.
Both anchorage areas are exposed to strong winds and seas and are only considered to be safe up to a maximum wind of 25 kt.
There are mooring buoys available for small craft in the La Paz Inner Harbor but there are no mooring buoys available in the La Paz Outer Harbor for large vessels.
There are no mooring buoys available near Pichilingue Channel.
