TIDES AND CURRENTS
Though tidal currents are strong throughout most of the Inland Sea, currents off Iwakuni are slight, being about ½ kt setting north and south with slack water coinciding with high and low tides. Range of the tides in this area is as great as 12.47 - 21.6 ft, when storms and high winds are absent.
Tidal currents in Hiroshima Bay are weak. In the narrow passages between the smaller islands the velocity is about 1-2 kt. The direction and velocity vary considerably from day to day.
Tidal current within Kure Harbor are negligible.
