PORT VISIT INFORMATION
In November 2002, NRL Meteorologist Mr. Sam Brand and SAIC Meteorologist Mr. R. Glenn Handlers met or talked with the following persons to obtain much of the information in this evaluation: Major Matt Bragg and Chief Petty Officer Mike Vaughn, U.S. Defense Attache Office; Mr. Rajendra Prasad, Director, and Alipate Waqaicelua, Principal Scientific Officer - Forecasting, Fiji Meteorological Service; Captain Satini Lakepa, Current Deputy Port Master, and Captain Pemtoko Yauvoli, Previous Deputy Port Master, Emosi Navusolo, Assistant Manager, and Mr. Jone Caicau, Property/Safety Officer, Maritime and Ports Authority of Fiji; Captain Harvey Prajivan, Supervisor of Pilots, Lautoka. In addition, the Maritime and Ports Authority of Fiji and Port Pilots provided significant assistance by providing answers to a tropical cyclone questionnaire, as well as charts and diagrams of the Port of Lautoka harbor facilities. Mr. C. J. Neumann, SAIC, Monterey, CA provided the tropical cyclone climatology data used in this evaluation. Ms. Cynthia Karengin converted the port study into electronic format.
