Welaptega Marine

Profile

Welaptega Marine is a world leader in underwater inspection technologies for offshore installations. Welaptega uses 3D video, 3D modelling, chain measurement and rope measurement to survey mooring chains and underwater assets on floating production systems, drilling rigs and other offshore installations. Welaptega’s other specialties include mooring integrity and integrity verification of subsea assets such as risers and pipelines.
Welaptega’s survey capabilities and technologies meet international industry standards and are certified by Lloyd’s Register and DNV.
Mooring chain measurement systems
Welaptega’s chain measurement system (CMS™) is an ROV-deployed inspection technology that provides operators with data on deterioration in mooring chains.
The CMS is an optical caliper system that measures dimensions of mooring chains and identifies deterioration such as elongation, corrosion and wear. Results are compared to industry standards and rules. Advantages of the CMS include the following:

As mooring chain surveys are conducted in the water, chains do not have to be removed for inspection
Allows for close visual inspection of individual links
Synchrous video system reduces time needed to collect data
Generates time-series-based, statistically reliable measurements

Underwater asset 3D video and 3D modelling technology
Welaptega’s 3D video (3DV™) and 3D modelling (3DM™) technologies provide state-of-the-art visualization of underwater assets on offshore installations.
3D video for underwater images
Welaptega’s 3D video gives clear, real-time images of underwater components, enabling ROV pilots to carry out complex construction and repair operations more efficiently. Welaptega’s 3D video provides unprecedented spatial perception, real-time visual inspection, enhanced ROV dexterity, polarizing technology and 3D camera systems rated to 4,000m under water.
3D modelling for high-resolution stereroscopic models
Welaptega’s 3D modelling produces high-resolution stereroscopic models that can be manipulated and measured to identify, diagnose and repair underwater assets' problems. It provides accuracy of more than 0.1mm for the 3D modeling of subsea assets, and dimensions and geometry, and has the ability to calculate wear, corrosion and pitting. In addition, scalar models give unprecedented detail of surface material condition.
Rope measurement systems
Welaptega’s rope measurement system, RMS™, surveys the in-service condition of fiber or wire rope moorings. Deployed by ROV, a hydraulic sled encircles the rope, and is towed along the rope. RMS uses four video cameras to survey the rope and detect changes in the cross-sectional geometry. These measurements indicate potential for deterioration and mooring failure.
Welaptega’s RMS is a unique method for monitoring in-service condition of fiber or wire rope moorings. It has a built-in system for cleaning marine growth from rope, four video cameras that provide a 360° visual record of rope surface condition, and regular double-diameter measurements to highlight potential issues.
