Trasfor

Profile

Situated for more than 40 years on its original site in Lugano, Switzerland, Trasfor has developed a worldwide reputation for the design and manufacture of custom-built dry-type transformers and inductors. As an independent company, the spirit of Trasfor is rooted deep in the heart and traditions of Switzerland. An affinity shared by the owners, employees and associates of the company. The company’s reputation for providing quality and guaranteeing reliability has led to many of the world’s most demanding industries becoming regular users of Trasfor products and transformed the company into the global company we are today. For many years, Trasfor has been involved in offshore projects supplying either thruster, drilling or distribution transformers. Trasfor designs transformers and reactors for many applications, but recently the offshore segment is one of the most important and active aspects of our business. The reliability, endurance and efficiency of the Trasfor transformers meet the high standards of the major offshore platform and FPSO builders. We are on board many platforms, including the B series, 280,281,288,295 the SEVAN 650, the WIL-Pioneer, WIL-Innovator and WIL-Promoter, the SORATU and BEARFIELD and the famous TROLL C. Thruster transformers Trasfor offers thruster transformers with the following specifications: cast resin coils, aluminium conductor windings, 6,600V primary voltage, 690V secondary voltage, 60Hz. Air-forced and water-forced cooling system are used for maximum control of internal temperatures and IP44 enclosure is used for maximum protection and isolation from the room environment. The company’s thruster transformers are compact, corrosion resistant and designed for high performance. Drilling transformers Drilling transformers are offered with the following specifications: cast resin coils, aluminium conductor windings, 6,600V primary voltage, 690V secondary voltage, 60Hz. An air-forced cooling system is used for maximum control of internal temperatures and IP23 enclosure is used for the necessary protection and isolation from the room environment. Axial fans provide sufficient air cooling to increase nominal power while functioning, as well as extra power to be used in heavy stress or emergency conditions. It is possible to use the transformer in natural air cooling with reduced power. Distribution transformers for offshore applications Medium voltage transformers with aluminium or copper windings, cast resin technology for higher voltage and dry-type technology for low voltage secondary are available for offshore applications. Features include single or multi-secondary windings, and thermal protection for temperature control. The standard IP23 enclosure is offered with the possibility to use IP44 enclosure for maximum protection.
