RESON

Profile

RESON is a market leader in underwater acoustic sensors, state-of-the-art echosounders, multi-beam sonar systems, transducers, hydrophones and PDS2000 software. RESON’s SeaBat sonar and NaviSound echosounder systems have become an industrial standard within offshore operations.
The company is growing and expanding into new markets and application areas and its fourth generation of sonar systems will provide unprecedented performance for naval and commercial systems in terms of accuracy, resolution, depth rating, and range. RESON has its corporate headquarters in Denmark, with subsidiaries in the USA, UK, Netherlands, Germany and Singapore.
SEABAT MULTIBEAM SONAR FOR OFFSHORE APPLICATIONS
The SeaBat series of multi-beam sonar has been the preferred solution within the offshore sector for many years. The improved SeaBat 7125 sonar increases efficiency in numerous offshore applications thanks to a flexible platform, real-time monitoring and zero visibility productivity.
OIL FIELD PLANNING, INSTALLATION AND INSPECTION
RESON supplies solutions for all stages of the oilfield lifecycle, from seismic exploration and infrastructure planning surveys to installation support and inspection during the productive life of an oil field.
PIPELINE INSTALLATION - REAL-TIME DATA WITH SEABAT SONAR
When installing pipelines, the dual-head SeaBat 7125 system can be used as a touch-down monitoring support tool. The system provides real-time cross-profiles at the touch-down point, giving the true cross-profiles of the pipeline, regardless of any ROV movement.
RESON's integrated sonar solution can also be used to monitor the pipeline as it departs the lay vessel in the stinger. This system helps stop the pipeline departing over the side of the stinger by monitoring the pipe position.
ENHANCED PIPE AND CABLE TRENCHING SUPPORT
To increase the speed of operations, a dual-head SeaBat 7125 can be used for trenching support of pipelines and cables with both water injection trenchers and ploughs, and mechanical cutters.
The dual-head SeaBat 7125 system delivers information on trench depth, the placement of pipelines and umbilicals, and supplies guidance when setting the machine on the pipeline or umbilical.
COMPLETE PIPELINE INSPECTION SUITE
The RESON equipment suite covers a broad range of operations, such as visual inspection for damage to concrete weight coat, field joints and anodes. It also allows inspection of the pipeline status on the seafloor by acquiring cross-profiles to determine whether the pipeline is suspended.
The RESON suite offers a fast, real-time cross-profiling tool, as well as imaging sonar technology to speed up inspection operations even in zero visibility – saving operational time and inspection costs. The suite includes:

Combination of 200kHz/400kHz imaging sonar for utilisation in zero visibility
Dual-head SeaBat 7125 as a cross-profiling tool

ROV GUIDANCE IMAGING SONAR
In situations where an ROV must complete an intervention task in zero visibility, using a high-resolution, real-time imaging sonar can eliminate waiting time and speed up operations.
Using the SeaBat 7128 multi-beam imaging sonar in place of video cameras offers the opportunity to work in deep, low-visibility water.
SUB-SEA STRUCTURE INSTALLATION IMAGING SONAR
Any structure that needs to be installed on the seafloor can be guided by real-time imaging sonar, as well as acoustic positioning technology. Using both imaging sonar technology and acoustic positioning systems gives you extra visual control. This makes sub-sea installation simpler and quicker when:

Structures being installed are close to other structures, such as crossing mattresses
Structures mate with other structures, such as pulling an umbilical into a structure
Visibility is limited

This technology can be used when installing pipelines in pre-constructed trenches. In this case, the lay vessel can be guided in real-time by transmitting the sonar image from a touch-down monitoring vessel. Because the sonar looks ahead, it detects when the pipeline reaches the centre line of the trench even before the pipeline touches down.
