MAN Turbo

Profile

MAN Turbo is a leading original equipment manufacturer of turbomachinery offering one of the world’s most comprehensive product lines of compressors and turbines. These include: turbocompressors for oil and gas, centrifugal compressors for oil and gas, screw compressors, gas turbines for oil and gas, gas turbines for power generation, gas turbines for mechanical drive, gas turbine generator sets, steam turbines for pulp and paper, steam turbines for power generation, industrial steam turbines and steam turbines for mechanical drives.
Customised turbomachinery
MAN Turbo combines 250 years of accumulated experience from five major OEM companies to create made-to-measure solutions for customers and operators, from single machines to turnkey machinery sets. Innovation, ongoing development and modern technology guarantee the competitiveness of our products (single source solutions) for the lifetime of a machine. Around 4,000 employees worldwide combine their skills in:

Design and engineering
Research and development
Manufacture and testing
Installation and service
Quality assurance

As an international company, MAN Turbo has its headquarters in Oberhausen, Germany with three main plants in Berlin, Zurich and Schio. MAN Turbo has links to around 150 representatives worldwide.
Process-gas screw compressors
Process-gas screw compressors are used in all applications where heavily contaminated components in gases and gas mixtures would curtail the life of other types of compressors. Their low speed of rotation permits direct injection of large quantities of liquid. These oil-free compressors attain volume flows of up to 100,000m³/h and an outlet pressure of 50bar. They are used in innumerable applications, including:

Refineries
Petrochemical plants
Chemical production plants
Oil and gas production

The adaptability of MAN Turbo process-gas screw compressors is enhanced by a well-conceived modular design system and field-proven features. Extensive calculation programs are available for design, engineering and manufacturing to ensure that all customer requirements are considered in a highly efficient, yet tailor-made way.
Natural gas processing
Before natural gas can be fed into a supply network, it has to be processed. Facilities for processing natural gas are often located in direct proximity to the gas transporting plant.
The composition of the natural gas transported is dependent on the type and depth of the deposit. Water is present as an attendant substance in the form of deposit water and condensation water. To prevent corrosion and obstructions in long-distance pipelines, it is necessary to dry the moist crude gas in so-called gas drying plants.
MAN Turbo offers the following machines for these installations:

Centrifugal compressors (high pressure compressors)
Process-gas screw compressors
THM and FT8 gas turbines

Screw compressors for offshore associated gas processing
MAN Turbo also offers products that are suitable for the first and second stages of offshore gas recompression trains, as well as related hydrocarbon gas applications such as flare gas recovery (for closed flare systems) and tank vapor recovery systems. The screw gas compressor is continuously gaining popularity in a field hitherto dominated largely by turbomachinery.
Centrifugal compressors
MAN Turbo’s product range includes a variety of extremely robust centrifugal compressors that can be built for the compression of various gases.
The casing design determines whether the compressors are categorized as horizontally or vertically split, each type having different attributes and application limits. The advantages and disadvantages of each and the feasibility of using a particular compressor should be considered with regard to the application in question. The specialists at MAN Turbo will be happy to assist you in this.
THM gas turbines
The heavy duty machines of the THM gas turbine family are designed for a long life with a high level of reliability and availability. They are supplied as ready-assembled drive units.
Their modular design facilitates easy installation and maintenance. The relatively low turbine inlet temperature guarantees a long life and extended inspection intervals. Fitting of two external dry low NOx combustion chambers in a V-configuration guarantees extremely low emission values.
FT8 gas turbines
The FT8 gas turbine is based on modern aeroengine technology from Pratt & Whitney, adapted for industrial use. The gas turbine is characterised by a compact, modular design. FT8 gas turbines achieve a high level of availability and are extremely reliable.
