KENZ FIGEE

Profile

KENZ FIGEE B.V. of Zaandam, The Netherlands, is a major supplier of cranes for the marine and offshore industry. Our cranes are active on the following applications: fixed drilling platforms, production platforms, drilling vessels, accommodation platforms, FPSO/FSO units, diving support vessels, pipe and cable laying vessels and Navy vessels.
KENZ FIGEE have over 200 offshore cranes in operation, situated in the North Sea, Irish Sea, offshore West Africa, Gulf of Mexico, offshore Australia and the South China Sea. The crane capabilities range from 2,5 to 600 tonnes hook load with operation to sea state 6 and Beaufort 8.
The basic range of our products gives us the unique opportunity to broadly cover all market requirements, such as:
ram luffing (telescoping or knuckle) box boom pedestal cranes
rope luffing lattice boom pedestal cranes
gantry cranes
special purpose derrick cranes
travelling gantry cranes
mono rail hoist
BOP handling cranes
skid frames
air winches
traction winches
Through the years we have developed various special features with the aim of increasing the safety and reliability of the cranes or to add special functions. Both passive and active heave compensation systems have been developed and successfully applied on numerous cranes.
HEAVE COMPENSATION
The passive heave compensation system, also referred to as 'a swell compensator' or 'constant tension system', allows the crane operator to select the right moment to lift a load off a supply boat deck, whilst the wire rope is being kept taut under a reduced back tension.
The in-house developed active heave compensation system (AHC) has been applied for both subsea and above water duties. For subsea applications the system can be used to safely install subsea equipment of 75 tonnes in a waterdepth of 2200 metres from a support vessel or FPSO. When activated the AHC system will almost entirely compensate all vertical excursions –to a maximum of 12 metres- resulting from the ship's roll, heave and pitch motions.
SHOCK ABSORPTION
Another system which has been developed and successfully applied on heavy duty offshore cranes installed on oil production platforms in the Northern North Sea is the 'Shock Absorbing' system.
This feature consists of a double acting hydraulic cylinder which is situated in the boom of the crane and which has a wire rope sheave attached to the rod. The cylinder will be retracted in case a significant shock load occurs during the process of lifting a load off a supply boat.
SERVICES
Service for our cranes is offered by our own Service department,
havng a well-trained team of multi-skilled maintenance technicians. Through this department, we also offer a complete crane upgrade and conversion service, not only for our own equipment but also that of other manufacturers.
