Detcon

Profile

Detcon designs and manufactures a wide range of industrial-grade gas detection sensors, control systems and process analyzers. The company fuses decades of field experience with engineering expertise to produce durable solutions for the harshest environments.
Detcon's research and development team maintains a pulse on the latest technology to continuously improve its products. Detcon extended its reach in innovation this year by introducing SmartWireless™, a wireless-cordless automation system that can be used with a wide variety of devices and applications.
Harsh environment gas detection
Detcon Model Series 700 industrial-grade gas detection sensors are among the most durable products in harsh environment gas detection. All electronics are fully encapsulated within an electropolished 316 stainless-steel housing to prevent moisture ingress and virtually eliminate corrosion. All electronics are fixed within the encapsulation to eliminate vibration damage.
The Model Series 700 assembly has a modular design and easy plug-in, field-replaceable sensors to facilitate on-site maintenance with minimal outside support. These 'smart' sensors include embedded intelligence, which makes configuration, maintenance and routine calibration simple.
The Model Series 700 offers a range of integration options. The intelligent sensor modules feature dual outputs, a linear 4mA-20mA analog signal and a Modbus RS-485 serial output. Additional communication solutions include HART, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, Wireless Interface Module, and a remote operation communication protocol.
Detcon Model Series 700 has been awarded a SIL2 rating by Exida, a leading assessment organization.
Wireless technology for gas detection sensors
Detcon's SmartWireless automation system can be used with numerous gas detection sensors and a wide range of industrial automation products, process measurement devices, remote data acquisition systems, and audio-visual alarm stations. SmartWireless technology includes wireless transceivers, rechargeable Smart Battery packs, solar charging options, low-power gas detection sensors, and an HMI panel for up to 32 channels.
Model RXT-300 wireless transceivers are ideal for use in transmitting signal data in a wide range of industrial detection and alarm system applications. Designed for use with virtually any field device with an RS-485 Modbus serial output, the RXT-300's unique technology is designed to create a robust network that automatically routes around congestion and line-of-sight obstacles, while improving throughput as subscriber device density increases.
Intelligent gas detection sensors
The Detcon Model Series 500 and 600 sensors are MicroSafe™ intelligent gas detection sensors that feature a non-intrusive interface and 4mA-20mA output. These plug-and-play sensors are easy to maintain and have intuitive operating software. The Model Series 500 and 600 sensors include:
Solid-state H2S sensor
Combustible gas sensor
Combustible hydrocarbons and CO2 sensors
Wide range of toxic sensors
O2 deficiency sensor
Volatile organic compound sensors
Single-sensor control card systems
Detcon manufactures single-sensor control card systems. Detcon Model 10 single-channel digital control modules and Model 12 single-channel digital control modules are designed to supervise and display the status of a single remote sensor assembly. Modules are available for a variety of toxic and combustible gases and are compatible with Detcon enclosures and mainframe hardware assemblies.
Gas detection control systems
The Detcon Model MCX-32 is a multi-channel integrated control system with a capacity of 64 active channels. The Model MCX-32 controller provides a unique combination of 'auto configuration' simplicity and ease of use with customizable expansion capabilities. It will be available to purchase in May 2010.
Detcon's Model X40 gas detection control systems are available in one, two, four and eight-channel versions. A microprocessor-based control card displays the condition of any field-mounted gas detection sensor with a 4mA-20mA or serial RS-485 output. A backlit alpha / numeric display provides indication of gas type and current reading.
Detcon's Model 1600 / 6400 controllers are user-configurable and multi-channel. The Model 1600 accepts up to 16 input channels. The Model 6400 accepts up to 64 input channels. Both controllers use din-rail mount I/O modules that provide for analog 4mA-20mA inputs and outputs and relay contact inputs and outputs.
Gas process analyzers
Detcon's Model 1000 process analyzers provide continuous measurements of H2S and/or CO2 in natural gas pipelines, tail gas lines, SRU overhead lines and other applications. H2S is measured using Detcon's proprietary solid-state MOS sensor element and the CO2 is measured using the Detcon NDIR infrared detector.
The analyzer features a microprocessor-based signal conditioning transmitter module with local digital display, fault supervision, calibration mode indicator, three alarm relays and RS-485 serial port. A complete gas sample pre-conditioning system and on-board calibration source are standard.
