PORT VISIT INFORMATION
The Port of Mackay was not visited. However, in November 1997, NRL Meteorologist Mr. Sam Brand and SAIC Meteorologist Mr. R. D. Gilmore met with the following persons to obtain much of the information contained in this evaluation: Supervising Meteorologist Jim Davidson, Senior Meteorologist Jeff Callaghan, and Meteorologist Sue Dargie, Severe Weather Section, Bureau of Meteorology Regional Office, Queensland (Qld) Weather Services, Brisbane, Qld. In addition, Mr. Paul Coghlin, Manager, Planning and Environment, Mackay Port Authority provided significant assistance by providing answers to a tropical cyclone questionnaire, as well as charts and diagrams of the Port of Mackay harbor facilities; Mackay pilot Wayne Burke provided insight with respect to tropical cyclone evasion; Mr. C. J. Neumann, SAIC, Monterey, CA provided the tropical cyclone climatology data used in this evaluation; Ms. Cynthia Orander, SAIC, Monterey, CA provided the HTML coding and site design for transition to electronic format.
