ENTRANCE CHANNEL
The entrance channel passes between the ends of the breakwaters described in preceding Section 3.2. With a width of 591 ft (180 m), the channel is maintained to a depth of 27.9 ft (8.5 m). According to DMA (1990), the harbor should only be entered at slack water due to the strong current flow perpendicular to the harbor entrance.
