PORT VISIT INFORMATION
In November 1998, NRL Meteorologist Mr. Sam Brand and SAIC Meteorologist Mr. R. E. Englebretson met with the following persons to obtain much of the information in this evaluation: Capt. John Butler, Port Manager, Capt. Hamish MacAdie, Assistant Harbor Master, and Capt. Simon Moran, Marine Pilot, Darwin Port Authority; Lieutenant Bernadette Gately, Royal Australian Navy, Port Services Fleet Base Manager. In addition, Capt. Richard Wilson, Darwin Harbor Master, provided significant assistance by providing answers to a tropical cyclone questionnaire, as well as charts and diagrams of the Port of Darwin harbor facilities. He also provided insight with respect to tropical cyclone evasion. Mr. C. J. Neumann, SAIC, Monterey, CA provided the tropical cyclone climatology data used in this evaluation; Ms. Cynthia Orander, SAIC, Monterey, CA provided the HTML coding and site design for transition to electronic format.
