Sparrows Offshore

Profile

Sparrows Offshore and Energy Cranes constitute the world's leading offshore lifting services group supporting the oil and gas industry.
From roots in the North Sea in 1974, the crane operation and maintenance business has grown to operate from 19 operating bases spanning six continents - delivering crane operation, engineering, maintenance and repair support in all the world's major offshore energy provinces.
OFFSHORE CRANE SERVICES
Offshore crane service can be offered on a project basis (such as an urgent repair or crane upgrade), on planned implementation of specified periodic routines, or on a full crane management basis whereby we assume total responsibility for the delivery of agreed performance targets in crane availability, safety and cost control.
The unique feature of the Sparrows service is the depth of engineering expertise which supports it. Crane maintenance strategies, for example, are developed from risk-based failure modes effects and criticality analysis studies conducted by a specialist team in Aberdeen dedicated solely to this task.
The resulting strategies and maintenance routines set and target maintenance budgets where they will minimise risk of critical component failure through application of maintenance routines developed by reference to design studies and to previous time and wear patterns.
OFFSHORE CRANE RENTAL
An offshore crane rental service is offered, under which we deploy modularised pedestal cranes from our fleets in the Gulf of Mexico, North Sea and Middle East, complete with crews to effect rapid installation and commissioning and ongoing crane operation through the period of rental - be this a short deployment to provide temporary additional crane capacity, or a rental lasting several years.
RIGGING LOFT RENTAL
Rigging equipment and services are required wherever cranes work offshore, so Sparrows provide a rigging loft rental service under which fully-stocked rigging lofts are located on your installation, the contents examined and maintained on-site by our qualified personnel and, where required, entire teams of qualified riggers can be deployed to support your complex offshore mechanical handling needs.
TRAINING SERVICES
Underpinning all the services stand the work of our training and competence assurance teams. Our flagship Sparrows Training Centre in Aberdeen is the world's largest and most comprehensively equipped lifting services training establishment, with pedestal, telescopic and crawler cranes, a sophisticated Kansim 600 crane simulator, a complex of training environments, a range of loads and rigging simulators, and suite of classrooms - all dedicated to the task of delivering competence assured staff, both for our own operations and for the deck operations contractors alongside whom we work offshore. Training is provided for crane operators, slingers, banksmen and riggers.
PEDESTAL CRANE MANUFACTURE, SUPPLY AND SUPPORT
Energy Cranes' manufacturing business in Houston grew through the merger of the former American Aero and Titan crane companies - strengthened by the addition of engineering expertise from Sparrows Offshore. Cranes ranging from 5t capacity box-boom models to 200ft / 175t capacity cranes for deepwater service are designed and built in Houston under API 2C-0072. After-sales service and parts are delivered through our global crane service network.
RIG MECHANISATION
The rig mechanisation division designs, delivers and supports mechanical handling and access packages for the offshore drilling industry, ranging from riser handling gantry and overhead cranes, BOP transporters and chain hoists, under-hull guidance systems, catwalk machines and cherry-picker access platforms. Rig mechanisation sales, service and support are available through our Aberdeen, Shipley, Houston and Perth offices.
Energy Cranes International Limited - the parent of both Sparrows Offshore Services Limited and Energy Cranes LLC - is committed to continuing its long term development of excellent in mechanical handling products and services supporting the offshore oil and gas industry throughout the world.
