Simtronics Group

Profile

SIMTRONICS group is a world class provider of sophisticated gas and flame detection systems, extinguishing solutions and fire prevention systems (N2).
Our systems and solutions are used worldwide to help protect life and assets.
Gas and flame detection systems
The detection systems division focuses on gas and flame detection equipment, and is formed from the former fire and gas division of the Norwegian company Simtronics and the former detection specialist company ICARE in France.
Flame detectors
The MultiFlame detector family has been supplied for numerous projects ranging from FPSOs to gas turbine enclosures and aircraft hangars. Our DMTV6-3IR has a wide field of view with a detection range of up to 80m, allowing for a better coverage as more flexible location of the detectors.
Combustible gas detectors
Our Simrad GD10P infrared point detector is the benchmark for combustible gas detection on offshore installations. These infrared gas detectors differ from all other models, because they use silicon based solid-state infrared sources. The complete optomechanical design and construction is so stable that an ultra fast speed of response can be achieved whilst providing unparalleled service life and detector stability, thus saving on maintenance and service costs. The GD10P can also be supplied with a HART (a) interface.
Laser open path detectors
A further development in the area of H2S detector has seen Simtronics develop a gas-specific laser-based open path gas detector. This unit can detect 5ppm hydrogen sulphide gas clouds, thereby making it ideal for personnel safety monitoring whilst never needing recalibration.
Hydrogen sulphide detectors
We have also developed a specialist hydrogen sulphide detector for arid locations, such as the Middle East. The MultiTox-MOS detector uses a semiconductor sensor and advanced onboard signal processing. The MultiTox-MOS has higher reliability and lower maintenance, needing recalibration just once a year.
Toxic, oxygen and catalytic detectors
Simtronics’ large range of conventional toxic, oxygen and catalytic detectors are widely used in demanding industrial applications where built-in flexibility and easy maintenance are important features. All of these units can be commissioned using a wireless handheld communicator by a single person. In addition, the detector heads for most of our toxic and oxygen detectors are “hot” swappable, reducing the permit demands for maintenance.
The unique addressable field network SYNTEL™ is often a key component in our detection solutions for petrochemical and chemical plants as well as nuclear and conventional power plants.
Extinguishing solutions
The extinguishing solutions division was formed in April 2007 with the acquisition of Water Mist Engineering (WME). WME design and assemble a full range of active fire fighting systems, such as low pressure water mist, deluge, sprinkler, etc. Each system is tailored to match the individual protection requirements. WME is also heavily involved in research and development of water mist nozzles and systems.
In February 2008 the division expanded with the acquisition of Fire Eater. Fire Eater is known foremost for inventing the clean air extinguishing agent INERGEN® which protects valuable assets, and the 300 bar system which reduces the amount of equipment, space and cost required. Today Fire Eater is specializing in developing, producing, designing, installing and maintaining fixed fire extinguishing systems around the world.
Fire prevention systems (N2)
The fire prevention systems division was formed in February 2008 with the acquisition of ETech Process. ETech Process was established in 1993, with emphasis on in-house development of products based on environmental technology. Through the years, the company has developed a range of process products and systems, basically within water and air-gas separation.
ETech Process holds numerous references within marine and offshore installations, for Offshore both on international and within the Norwegian Continental Shelf, the North Sea. The first nitrogen generator unit was delivered in year 2000 to ExxonMobil. From here on, the company has moved into the maritime ship building industry, with supply of nitrogen generators, based on membrane technology.
In 2003, ETech advanced further within the nitrogen generation field by developing a new concept with patented solutions. The result was an integrated, all-in-one type, with feed air compressor and nitrogen generator. Since then, new types has been produced for the international maritime marked. The ENG-series gives a lot of advantages in terms of performance and size in addition to compact design and easy installation.
