Profile
Salt Separation Services is a cutting edge company specialising in the design and manufacture of Reverse Osmosis (RO) desalination systems (water-makers) for the offshore oil and gas industry. We provide plants to the highest standard and reliability for both drinking and process purposes. All plants produced and service undertaken is in accordance with our quality assurance procedures, conforming to BS EN ISO 9001:2008.
Our company has over 20 years of experience and knowledge of designing and working to offshore specifications and has the capability to produce plants to work in hazardous areas. We have produced plans for companies such as BP, Amoco, Talisman, Elf, Shell, Total, Wood Group and Kvaerner.
We also specialise in offshore hire equipment and retrofitting and supporting other manufacturers' equipment that proves to be un-reliable and costly to maintain.
Offshore seawater RO plant design
Seawater RO plants are custom designed to clients' specific requirements, specifications and the available space envelope, whilst taking accessibility and maintainability into account. A computer design facility is available for all aspects of RO plant design. This enables us to offer a complete service from conceptual design to production of process flow and instrumentation diagrams, data sheets, material standards and manufacturing drawings.
Offshore seawater RO plant manufacture
Salt Separation Services manufacture plants to extremely high standards that meet the requirements of offshore oil and gas companies. We are able to manufacture plants to work in hazardous areas. Package plants are fully assembled and tested at our works. Larger plants are normally constructed using individual component skids which are simply interconnected on-site during installation, under the direct supervision of our engineers. Our on-site facilities allow us to fabricate in mild steel, stainless steel, duplex, super duplex, CuNi, uPVC, ABS, PP and others.
All plants are fully factory tested prior to dispatch, thereby reducing installation and commissioning time offshore.
Offshore seawater RO plant installation, commissioning and testing
We employ 20 full-time engineers with an exemplary safety record who are available for offshore work. They are all holders of offshore (OPITO approved) survival certificates. Having this many trained personnel allows us to offer offshore service and technical support at short notice.
Our engineers have carried out commissioning and service work on large-scale offshore packages, including sulphate reducing packages (SRP/SRF) in the North Sea and offshore Brazil.
RO plant servicing / provision of spare parts
Many RO plants are not operating to their potential. A service contract with Salt Separation Services would redress this situation. Plants should be chemically cleaned on a regular basis and routinely serviced, with faulty items repaired or replaced. Our engineers would carry out routine inspections and undertake maintenance work to bring the plant up to specification. All chemicals / consumables and spares would be supplied for use during the service to ensure the plant runs correctly and to prevent unnecessary failures which could result in the loss of water production or damage to the equipment.
Our engineers have a great deal of experience in identifying and sourcing spare parts for all manufacturers' plants.
We stock many commonly used spares and consumables available for rapid dispatch, including RO membranes, pumps and spares, cartridge filters, instrumentation, antiscalant, cleaning chemicals, etc.
Refurbishment / upgrade of existing RO plants
As membrane technology advances many existing RO plants become comparatively inefficient and could be upgraded or modified to enable increased output, better quality product water and possibly reduced energy usage. We are able to compare the design of the original plant with current available technologies and recommend any modifications that can be made to the plant to achieve improved performance.
Our engineers are available to carry out surveys of other manufacturers' plants that prove to be unreliable or costly to maintain. Once the survey has been completed we would issue a detailed report advising the best way to improve reliability and performance of the plant. In most instances we can upgrade units utilising a lot of the existing equipment to keep costs down and in some cases minimising disruption to the operation of the platform.
Offshore RO plant training
Our service / commissioning engineers are available to undertake operator training and give instructions on preventative maintenance with platform personnel to ensure the plants operate correctly with the minimal amount of downtime.
Offshore specification hire plants
We supply hire plants that are manufactured to an offshore standard and are available for short and long-term hire. In a lot of cases these are available on a quick delivery to meet your urgent water requirements. Various options and sizes of hire plants are available, including containerised units.
Offshore reverse osmosis plants, spares and servicing
We can provide quotations for new RO plants, refurbishments, hire plants, servicing or spares. If you wish to make an enquiry please send us your request and we will be happy to send you our offer.
