Oil and gas project management experience Mott MacDonald’s experience in developing oil and gas projects dates back to the 1960s when we worked on many of the UK’s refineries for Shell, Esso and BP. In the 1970s we expanded into the North Sea, designing production facilities, pipelines and storage and export terminals – while setting up a network of design offices to serve major Middle Eastern oil producers. Today, we take care of every aspect, from project management and facilitation services, techno-economic studies, upgrades and optimisation plans to system design, hazard and risk analysis and site supervision. We have all the skills, resources and enthusiasm needed to help with every stage in planning, developing and maintaining onshore and offshore facilities for oil, gas, LNG and associated products. Safe offshore project and facility management services Safety, risk management, environmental sustainability and public accountability are of high and increasing significance. Mott MacDonald’s experience in these areas is applied to all projects where required through processes such as EIAs, EISs, HAZOPs, HAZIDs, socio-economic studies and QRA. Our offshore facility expertise ranges from compiling a definitive database on pipeline loss of containment incidents for UKOOA, the Institute of Petroleum and the HSE, to comparative risk assessment of failures and impact of fires and explosions on platform structures. We apply computer-based techniques and reliability methods to the lifetime assessment of offshore structures and pipelines. Oil and gas project management and facilitation services Mott MacDonald offers a comprehensive project management and facilitation service, which involves working with customers within the framework of PMC and EPCM style contracts, as well as facilitating projects to a viable status by our strategic, techno-economic and project advisory capabilities. Experienced offshore project management teams Mott MacDonald’s basic project management skills are enhanced by experienced contracts engineers, planners, quantity surveyors, estimators, QA / QC engineers, HSE specialists, factory / site witnessing and inspection personnel, logistics experts, and our procurement and facilitation management teams. We deliver project management and facilitation services for both large and small projects by setting up discrete project management teams matching bespoke customer requirements to assist our customers in mutually developing an integrated team. Offshore strategic and techno-economic studies Mott MacDonald combines experience in master planning for governments and utility providers with commercial skills sensitive to the needs of investors to provide global privatisation, asset transactions and restructuring services. We help with master planning, business re-structuring, asset valuations, regulatory advice and related issues such as technology transfer and training. In addition we provide techno-economic audit services to ensure clients obtain value for money. Upstream facilities / process engineering services Mott MacDonald’s capabilities span the whole spectrum of upstream facilities and process engineering including GOSP, natural gas processing and compression, gas/condensate production, sour gas and crude, waxy oils and condensates, and LNG and LPG ‘off sites’ plant and heavy oil field development. Using the latest process engineering tools for both steady state and transient analyses – such as PRO II, PROVISION, TGNET, TLNET, OLGA, HYSIM and HYSIS – we are equipped to plan, evaluate and analyse oil and gas production and processing facilities, and then look after every stage from conceptual and front-end design through to detailed engineering and providing post-commissioning assistance. Pipeline design, engineering and operational services Mott MacDonald’s specialist engineers have in-depth knowledge of the design, engineering and operational criteria relating to overland and subsea pipelines. Our offshore experience covers every facet of subsea pipeline design, including trenching, laying, landfalls and operational-stability measures. We have designed complete gathering and transmission systems with all associated pumping, compression, treatment, booster, block valve, pressure reduction / metering and trap-station equipment. Oil and gas engineering services Total, multi-disciplinary engineering services are at the core of our oil and gas work. Our capability covers all project phases, from conceptual and feasibility studies, through project execution and operational phases, to facilities' decommissioning. Our services encapsulate safety, reliability, risk, environmental and sustainability issues, providing a fully integrated design. We use the latest 3D simulation programs such as PDMS and PDS to enhance our more complex design work, with the advantage of being able to draw on non-core skills available from within the wider Mott MacDonald Group.
