Mechanix Wear

Profile

Since the debut of our first high performance work glove at the 1991 Daytona 500, Mechanix Wear has built a reputation as a leader in high-performance hand protection. As a result of over twenty years of research, development, design and innovation, Mechanix Wear now offers a full line of gloves that deliver superior fit, feel and function to your hands. Our mission is to look beyond conventional ideas and provide continually innovative hand protection for working hands all over the world. Hazard-reducing work gloves "Nobody gets hurt" is a slogan that many oil and gas safety managers are striving to make a reality. The truth is that oil and gas drilling operations expose rig hands to numerous on-site hazards, ranging from blunt force impact and pinching injuries to severe abrasions and lacerations to the hand. According to 2009/10 data from the National Safety Council, the average cost of a single hand injury is $21,918 (indemnity and medical). High-quality offshore work gloves To help protect upstream oil and gas workers, Mechanix Wear, the leader in high-performance hand protection, is proud to release three new work gloves for exploration and production operations. The Oil Rig Heavy Duty (ORHD) glove line features three glove models designed to protect and enhance the user's abilities. The primary focus for drilling operations managers is to eliminate hand exposure to pinch points, crush points, and impact zones while maintaining dexterity and a solid grip. Onshore and offshore drilling gloves The ORHD® glove is specially designed to combat daily hazards on the rig and provide durable gripping power for improved manual operation. Dual-density thermal plastic rubber (TPR) safeguards the user's knuckles and metacarpals from blunt force impacts, while dual-density TPR with dedicated flex points provides critical pinch point protection to the tip of each finger. EVA foam 2mm thick lies beneath the hard-density TPR to help disperse blows to the top of the hand, while the extended slip-on cuff safeguards the user's wrist. The palm is reinforced with durable synthetic leather and PVC-bonded dots for durable gripping power in slippery conditions. Cut-resistant work gloves In the oil and gas industry, rig hands are often exposed to cut hazards, leading to severe abrasions and lacerations to the palm and fingers. The ORHD CR+5 uses an internal layer of Armortex® cut-resistant material to deliver CE Level 5 cut resistance throughout the user's palm and fingers. Waterproof work gloves The ORHD OutDry® provides rig hands with critical protection against on-site hazards with the addition of a breathable waterproof membrane. OutDry is directly bonded to the internal layer of the glove, sealing any possible entry point from oil, drilling mud, and water.
