Hostile Environment Services (HES) is an Australian-based company that specialises in extreme-environment entry, intervention, inspection, maintenance and repair. We deliver the highest-standard emergency services and security personnel and specialist response equipment.
We provide Registered Training Organisation (RTO) training in a range of safety, emergency response and fire response courses. In addition to this, we provide a range of mercury management services and plant shutdown services.
Mercury management services

Mercury decontamination services for vessels
HES is unique in the methods and materials we employ to accomplish mercury decontamination of your vessels. With the continual requirement for positive proven results, we also provide decontamination and production chemicals for various applications.
This revolutionary new technology can even be custom-designed to the specific contaminant in a number of complex and dynamic environments. These unique chemicals include:

HyDeX - plant decontamination (H2S, CO2, hydrocarbons, benzene, pyrophoric and iron sulphide)
MeDeX - mercury decontamination (all species present)

Mercury testing equipment and training
In terms of testing equipment, HES is able to provide everything required to ensure your vessels are completely decontaminated. We can also provide the training for staff equipment, including:

Mercury management training

Chemical health risk assessments for the offshore industry
As part of our service, HES is able to conduct complete chemical health risk assessments. A proactive approach controls the risks of mercury, mercuric compounds and elemental vapour, and secures the safety of personnel and protection of components and equipment. This is referred to as a mercury management plan (MMP) and includes:

HES can not only provide highly trained offshore medics but also supply, stock and maintain fully equipped offshore medical centres. Offshore shutdown services
HES provides a single source for the provision of emergency response and safety equipment together with qualified personnel during shutdowns. We are unique in that we are able to manage the entire shutdown process, from providing assessments, security staff and medical staff, all the way through to equipment and testing.
We are world leaders in the provision of intervention, inspection, maintenance and repair operations within hostile environments. Our processes are unique and employ the highest standard of both personnel and equipment in the country. Services include but are not limited to:

Assistance with risk identification and assessment during planning and preparation stages
Provision of certified emergency response rental equipment
Provision of short-term fully qualified emergency service officers, medics and nurses
Preparation of emergency response and rescue plans, including confined space
Provision for short-term hire of additional safety equipment
Provision for fully equipped and staffed maintenance, cleaning and decontamination facilities (emergency response and safety equipment)
