Fugro GEOS

Profile

Fugro GEOS is the world's leading supplier of meteorological and oceanographic (metocean) services for offshore and coastal engineering applications. With over 30 years' experience in a diversity of projects worldwide, we are well placed to respond to the metocean needs of our clients. We offer metocean solutions through cost-effective, high-quality and technically advanced measurement, consultancy, information systems, ocean-observing systems, forecasting services and platform and riser response monitoring. Measured oceanographic and meteorological measurement services Measured oceanographic and meteorological (metocean) data provides the basis for the verification of environmental conditions, the derivation of operational and extreme criteria, and the engineering characterisation of complex oceanographic and meteorological phenomena that can have a significant effect on marine structures and offshore operations. Fugro GEOS provides metocean measurement services covering the entire range of metocean parameters, including physical oceanographic measurements such as currents, waves and water levels, and meteorological measurements such as wind, pressure, air temperature, etc. To meet clients' requirements, Fugro GEOS combines: State-of-the-art metocean equipment Experienced field personnel Proven methods of deployment and recovery Strong emphasis on safety and quality High data return statistics Fugro's metocean measurement activities draw on the world's largest commercial inventory of oceanographic equipment and are supported through Fugro's global office network. Offshore monitoring systems Fugro GEOS has extensive global experience of design, engineering, commissioning and annual calibration and maintenance of integrated real-time meteorological, oceanographic and response monitoring systems for harsh offshore environments. Each system combines flexible displays and data management software with state-of-the-art sensors. Systems include: Helideck weather and motion monitoring for helideck operations (CAA CAP437 compliant, plus compliant with other country specific helideck regulations including Brazil, Canada and Norway) Environmental and helideck motion monitoring for helideck operations Floating vessel monitoring, including waves, currents, winds, motions, stresses and excursion and integrity Production installation monitoring, including weather, waves, currents, motions and stresses SPM / CALM oil offloading buoy monitoring, including integrated environment and mooring load monitoring Offshore weather forecasting services Fugro GEOS provides a complete offshore weather forecasting service tailored for operations in the marine environment. Advance knowledge of wind and wave conditions leads to safer, more efficient offshore operations, and potentially enormous cost savings for exploration drilling rigs, FPSOs, seismic and survey vessels, pipe-lay and construction barges, cable installation and repair vessels. Fugro GEOS provides experienced meteorologists and oceanographers who work closely with operational personnel to supply on-site forecasting services for any global location. Metocean forecasting services include: Highly accurate weather forecasts for the world's oceans Three or five-days-ahead site-specific offshore weather forecasts Extended 16-days-ahead forecasts Long-term probability forecasts providing weather trends for planning purposes Forecasts delivered via telephone, fax, Inmarsat, email or online via Metis Additional parameters and graphics provided to suit specific operational requirements Offices operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a year 24/7 access to duty forecasters for personal consultation Worldwide coverage Metocean criteria and desk studies A full range of metocean consultancy services is provided by Fugro GEOS, with the aim of adding value to meteorological and oceanographic data through the application of analytical techniques to derive specific engineering criteria and expert interpretation. Fugro provides a full range of metocean consultancy services to support a broad spectrum of marine industries: Metocean strategy (lifecycle approaches including measurement and modelling requirements, analysis, reporting and presentation) Preliminary studies to identify available existing data to support a project Desk studies to provide preliminary characterisation of metocean conditions Quality control of measured data from temporary moorings and permanent installations Detailed analyses to derive design conditions Operational statistics for safe and efficient marine activities Management of metocean data sets Fugro GEOS' key strength is the experience of its staff in defining appropriate solutions to the characterisation of metocean conditions for clients' activities. This regional knowledge, global reach and understanding of client requirements, including design codes and legislative requirements, ensures appropriate solutions are provided. Marine monitoring, forecasting and information systems The Fugro SEAWATCH real-time ocean network system is an integrated, real-time marine monitoring, forecasting and information system for oceans, coastal areas, rivers and lakes, groundwater and soil. This multi-parameter system uses wave-directional buoys, integrated with a variety of sensors, to collect a full range of oceanographic and meteorological data, water quality parameters and tsunami modules for tsunami wave detection. SEAWATCH is a well-proven technology operating successfully in various global locations.
