Dialight

Profile

Dialight's (LSE: DIA.L) offshore LED lighting is leading the lighting revolution for industrial users across the world. Applying leading-edge LED technology, the company produces retro-fittable lighting fixtures designed specifically for hazardous locations, obstruction lighting, and traffic and rail signaling, to vastly reduce maintenance, save energy, improve safety and ease disposal.
Versions of these high-specification luminaries are also produced for more general industrial and outdoor situations.
Safe and low-maintenance offshore LED lighting
Switching to LED lighting from conventional incandescent light bulbs, high-intensity discharge (HID) or fluorescent lighting can bring real safety benefits for the offshore world as well as radically reducing the need for maintenance, while increasing energy efficiency.
Oil and gas LED illumination lights
Dialight’s SafeSite™ illumination fixture, with its rugged solid-state design, can deliver significant value for hazardous-location customers, whether in new or retro-fit installations, offering energy saving and improved safety over other systems while delivering a greater amount of useful light.
SafeSite offers the additional benefit that it requires no maintenance and has a warranty of at least five years.
LED-based illumination lights for drilling rigs
In 2008, Dialight retro-fitted an LED-based illumination on a drilling rig of a major oil and natural gas producer, which was the first of its kind.
Dialight’s SafeSite illumination fixture was selected for this particular test installation as it has been specially designed to operate in harsh environments such as drilling rigs, where vibration is the major cause of failure for traditional light sources such as metal halide and high-pressure sodium.
Each SafeSite fixture is expected to last up to seven years.
Hazardous-area LED illumination lights for oil platforms
As a solid-state device with a very robust housing designed to UL Class I Division 2 standards, SafeSite is virtually impervious to shock and vibration, making expensive and highly hazardous re-lamping a thing of the past – not only for rigs, but also for oil platforms, shipyards, refineries and other hazardous locations.
Low-voltage LED oil and gas safety lights
Safety for maintenance workers is a key issue in any oil and gas environment. The long lifespan of Dialight’s LEDs reduces the exposure risk associated with traditional lamp and ballast replacement. Their low-voltage and low-operating temperatures also make them much safer for use in combustible atmospheres as well as in extreme temperatures or in wet-wash locations where conventional lamps would shatter under sudden temperature changes.
Dialight’s T4 and T5-rated LEDs have the further attraction of ‘instant-on’ ability, unlike HID lights, which can take a while to warm up when switched on. Their ability to achieve full brightness in a fraction of a second makes them ideal as safety lights in low-traffic areas where they can be left off or dimmed and triggered to come on by proximity switches when someone enters.
As safety lights, they have the added benefit of superior color-rendition over sodium lights, which make everything look a muddy orange, so these LEDs will deliver improved night-vision and produce much more useful CCTV footage for security purposes.
Energy-saving, long-life LED lights
SafeSite utilizes the latest LED technology with proprietary optics to focus the light to illuminate only the required area. The 100W SafeSite fixture can replace traditional HID fixtures that require up to 250W, and provide potential power savings as high as 60%.
In addition, LEDs do not require a warm-up period and can be operated as 'instant on', allowing for further savings over HID sources.
