BUTTING has been a very successful supplier of special pipes for the oil and gas industry since 1978, particularly for onshore, offshore and subsea projects. The company has expert knowledge regarding welding, forming and materials technology. We produce flowlines, riser pipes and other equipment for topsides (platform FBSOs) as well as line pipes. Duplex and superduplex offshore pipes BUTTING has thus far produced more than 130,000t of pipes in duplex and super-duplex for renowned customers all over the world. Metallurgically clad riser pipes For projects in water depths of more than 1,000m, we produce special metallurgically clad riser pipes in welded construction with very tight tolerances. BUTTING had to break new grounds regarding welding and production technologies in order to comply with the latest technical requirements. Mechanically bonded offshore pipes In order to increase the already-known advantages of a clad pipe, BUTTING developed a mechanically bonded BUTTING-Bimetal-pipe (BuBi®-pipe) at the beginning of the 1990s. The mechanically bonded BuBi-pipe is a very economic option and can be used in various applications. The BuBi-pipe consists of a corrosion-resistant BUTTING pipe that is telescopically aligned inside a pipe in carbon-manganese material. The tight bonding between the two pipes is achieved by hydraulic expansion. The producible size range comprises pipes in ODs from 114.3mm (4in) up to 660mm (26in) and lengths up to 12m, without circumferential weld. Compared with the metallurgically clad pipe, our innovative BuBi-pipe, which has proved very successful in many applications, offers a wide range of material combinations for both the inner and outer pipe and remarkable price advantages. Its cost-effectiveness is due to the use of low-cost carbon steels in conjunction with corrosion-resistant steels and an economic production process. Metallurgically clad plate pipes Such pipes are made from metallurgically clad plates, which are produced in a special process to guarantee a tight bonding between the different materials. Ever since the mid-1980s we have been producing such pipes for renowned companies all over the world, especially in the oil and gas industry. As regards the size range, we produce ODs from 114.3mm (4in) up to 1,219mm (48in) in various material combinations. External or internal cladding for oil and gas pipes Pipes can be supplied with either an external or internal cladding. We can produce limited tolerances on shape and position, manufacture lengths of 24m, and make clad spools. Longitudinally welded offshore pipes Since stainless steels were first developed, the production of high-quality longitudinally welded pipes has been the focal point of our business. Few companies in Europe can point to such long-standing experience and diversity in the production of stainless-steel pipes. Our know-how in forming, welding and materials technology and our quality assurance are in evidence every day as we satisfy requirements from all kinds of industry. Longitudinally welded pipes with wall thicknesses up to 70mm and a maximum outside diameter of 3,000mm can be produced in standard lengths up to 24m from individual plates at our state-of-the-art production facilities, with no outsourcing of individual production steps. Oil and gas pipe fittings Besides the production of longitudinally welded pipes, BUTTING also undertakes the manufacture of a large variety of pipe fittings, like reducers, tees, collars and branches. The pipe fittings are mainly made to order in non-standard sizes and special alloys; however, we also keep a stock of more than 3,500 different standard products. Surface treatment for stainless-steel pipes and fittings Our stainless-steel pipes and fittings are always subjected to a full body pickling. This ensures cleanliness and forms a passive layer to protect against corrosion, including in inaccessible areas.
