  • Britannia Mine, 4100 level, 1989.  Copper was discovered here in 1888, leading to the development of one of the largest copper deposits in Canada.  A series of natural disasters plagued the mine, but it survived until Nov. 1, 1974 when ore reserves were depleated and it closed.
